|Description<br />
|Le système mondial d'alerte et de coordination en cas de catastrophe (GDACS) est un cadre de coopération entre les Nations unies et la Commission européenne. Il comprend des gestionnaires de catastrophes et des systèmes d'information sur les catastrophes dans le monde entier et vise à combler les lacunes en matière d'information et de coordination dans la première phase suivant une catastrophe majeure.<br />
Le GDACS fournit un accès en temps réel à des systèmes d'information sur les catastrophes basées sur le web et à des outils de coordination connexes.<br />
Les activités du GDACS sont présentées et approuvées par le conseil consultatif du GDACS, actuellement présidé par le Centre commun de recherche. Des gestionnaires de catastrophes, des scientifiques, des experts en cartographie, des webmestres et d'autres professionnels participent aux réunions annuelles du groupe consultatif du GDACS afin de définir des normes pour l'échange d'informations et une stratégie pour le développement ultérieur des outils et services connexes.<br />
L'Unité de soutien à l'activation et à la coordination (ACSU) ou le Service de soutien aux interventions d'urgence (ERSB) du Bureau de la coordination des affaires humanitaires des Nations unies (OCHA) à Genève fait office de secrétariat du GDACS.<br />
